How the date difference calculation works
The Date Difference Calculator compares a start date with an end date and calculates the elapsed calendar time between them.
Date difference formula
Date Difference = End Date − Start Date
Total Days = Number of calendar days between the dates
Total Days = Number of calendar days between the dates
Example
If the start date is 1 January 2026 and the end date is 1 February 2026, the elapsed difference is 31 days, or approximately 4 weeks and 3 days.
Calendar difference
The years, months and days result is based on actual calendar dates. The total-days result counts the exact number of 24-hour calendar intervals between the two selected dates.
